Hello Hello Hello.

It has been a while.. Just so busy, so updating this is difficult. Here’s an interesting link. Copyright is the single most important issue in the creative industries.

It Has Been a While….

Happy Summer All.

I know I haven’t been updating this page as much as I should have. It’s a bit of a summer project for me to try and get the whole website up to scratch, including the portfolio section, about me and others… But I’ve honestly been too busy working to report about working, so to speak. But I will make a conscience effort to do this every now and again. Until then, here’s some interesting tidbits…

I did a blog for Cantos, Canada’s Music Pavilion in Calgary. Here:
http://www.cantos.ca/blog/2011/06/shain-shapiro-howd-you-get-that-awesome-gig/

We also had a terrific night at The Barbican. Review:

And of course, we’re working with the Polaris again. Shortlist:
Polaris Music Prize Shortlist

And here are new bands we’re keen on:

NO GOLD

JON BRYANT

METZ

RESORTS

And finally, it looks like Canada’s copyright act will be looked at in Parliament. C-32 is on its way to being a topic on the house floor. That’s a positive.

More soon…

Hello Again…

Wow… six weeks have gone past since I last updated this. I am going to try and update this site more. In the next few weeks, expect the ‘about me’ and ‘portfolio’ sites to change and expand as time frees up slightly. Until then, here’s a few new things I’ve learned.

- The best iPhone app is the Mobile RSS Reader. And RSS stands for ‘Really Short Script’.

- There’s more showcasing festivals in music than there are weeks in the year if you look hard enough.

- John Shuttleworth is and remains amazing.

- Yarmouth, Nova Scotia has, quite possibly, the world’s nicest people.

- The Danish manufacture the best bikes in the world.

- Iceland has the best yogurt in the world. - Skyr.

- There will be an indie rock festival in Abu Dhabi next year.

- There’s a fantastic festival called the NH7 Weekender in Pune, India next month.  I wish I was going.

- We did over 40 Canadian Blast events in 2010.  Wow.

- I write on a site that also has David Suzuki as a contributor.  –> The Mark News.

and loads more.  More soon.  Here’s our next Canadian Blast in the interim:

Hello Hello…

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated this blog. I think that means I have been very, very busy. I need a good few hours to get this site up-to-date, but I think it’ll have to wait until I have a flight delay or cancellation. But things are chugging along. We have more Canadian Blast showcases now than ever before, and the PhD is slowly but surely finding its feet. And for the first time in since I’ve been back home in London it’s sunny today. Good news.

Now… work. Not sure if you have fully read Bill C-32 and how it impacts the Canadian music industry, but it is worth knowing how this new copyright legislation will affect your music, for better and worse. Here’s some more information.

Here’s a really good intro:
